Online Safety Act 2023

The Online Safety Act, which came into effect in October 2023, places a legal requirement on user-to-user platforms and social media giants to protect their users from harm and provide them with more tools to choose the content that they engage with.

The Act also includes 6 new criminal offences, which you need to be aware of when using the internet. We have created 2 videos to raise awareness of what this means for you:

• A short, 3 minute video, summarising the new criminal offences.
• A longer, 15 minute video, which goes into greater detail about the offences and proposed changes to social media platforms.
