Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence

The prevalence of domestic abuse within LGBT communities is estimated to be the same as heterosexual women, one in four.

Research suggests that gay men are more likely to experience physical and sexual violence than lesbian women, who are more likely to experience emotional abuse.

Perpetrators can include current or ex partners but may also include family members and the wider community.
